Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to agree to these Terms, provide reasonably accurate information, and use Melo only for lawful purposes.
Early-Access Service
Melo is under active development. Features may be incomplete, changed, suspended, or removed. The musician community may include clearly labeled sample profiles while it grows.
Melo does not guarantee a minimum number of musicians, verified identities, accurate recommendations, responses from other users, successful collaborations, or uninterrupted service.
Accounts and Public Profiles
You are responsible for access to the Google or email account used to sign in and for activity through your Melo account.
Saving a completed Music Identity publishes it to Explore All by default. You can hide it later. A direct signup without a completed Music Identity does not create a public musician profile.
Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent your abilities, or create accounts for deceptive or abusive purposes.
AI Profiles and Recommendations
Melo uses OpenAI to organize explicit answers into Music Identity text. Automated output may be subjective, incomplete, or incorrect and is not an assessment of talent or personal worth.
Your Picks may use internal ranking to order profiles and provide evidence-based reasons. Melo does not claim to measure compatibility or human chemistry. A suggestion does not verify identity, skill, safety, reliability, or willingness to collaborate.
Explore All remains available so users can browse eligible public profiles without recommendation-based hiding.
Projects and Other Users
A Project describes what a user wants to make now. Project information is separate from a permanent Music Identity.
You are responsible for deciding whether and how to communicate, share files, meet, discuss money, publish work, or collaborate. Melo does not currently perform background, identity, credential, or skill checks.
You can send direct messages to eligible musicians. A message or reply does not create an agreement to collaborate. Check Messages for replies; email notifications are not currently provided.
Report or block a musician from their profile, or email museofmelo@gmail.com with the relevant details. Blocking prevents new messages in either direction. Reports are reviewed manually, not continuously; Melo is not an emergency service.
Music Ownership
Melo does not determine songwriting splits, composition or master ownership, credits, royalties, licensing, distribution rights, confidentiality, or payment. Collaborators should agree on these matters themselves, preferably in writing.
Your Content
You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant Melo a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, reproduce, and display it only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and improve the service and show information you make public.
Acceptable Use
- Do not harass, threaten, stalk, exploit, discriminate against, or impersonate others.
- Do not send spam, scams, deceptive opportunities, or infringing content.
- Do not scrape profiles, bypass access controls, probe systems, distribute malware, or attempt unauthorized access.
- Do not use Melo for illegal, fraudulent, exploitative, or unsafe activity.
Third-Party Services
Melo relies on OpenAI, Supabase, Cloudflare, Google, and email providers. Their services may have separate terms and privacy practices, and Melo does not control their independent availability or security.
Suspension, Termination, and Deletion
Melo may restrict access for violations, fraud, abuse, safety or security risks, operational requirements, or discontinuation. You may stop using Melo at any time.
You can permanently delete your account and associated profile data from your profile settings. For help with deletion or access to an unavailable account, email museofmelo@gmail.com. Melo may verify your identity first.
Disclaimers and Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Melo is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of merchantability, fitness, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, or availability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Melo and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages. Aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount paid during the previous 12 months or US$50.
Governing Law and Contact
These Terms are governed by Washington State law. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in a competent court in King County, Washington, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
